Yeesun Kim, cello
Cellist Yeesun Kim is the founding member of the Borromeo String Quartet. The Borromeo Quartet is the Quartet-in-Residence at the New England Conservatory and the Heifetz International Music Institute. Ms. Kim teaches at the Taos School of Music every summer and has taught at the McGill International String Quartet Academy, Suntory Hall Academy in Japan, Seoul National University, and Korea National University of Arts. With the Borromeo Quartet, she has given several performances of complete cycles of Beethoven, Bartók, and Shostakovich quartets. Ms. Kim has had extensive involvement with Boston’s Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, NPR’s Performance Today, Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, and the Library of Congress. Her radio and television credits include Live from Lincoln Center and numerous appearances on WGBH in Boston, Radio France, and NHK Radio and Television in Japan. She has appeared in many music festivals such as Marlboro, Ravinia, Music@Menlo, La Jolla, Spoleto, Rockport, Santa Fe, Stavanger in Norway, Prague Spring in the Czech Republic, Hong Kong International Chamber Music Festival, and Sejong Spring in Korea. Ms. Kim plays a Peregrino Zanetto cello from circa 1576.
