Víctor Pablo, percussion
A striving renaissance musician, Víctor Pablo keeps his hands busy making sounds and beats all over the place in NYC. This rhythmist casts a wide musical net, ranging from contemporary chamber music to Puerto Rican folklore and many in-betweens. A native of Carolina, Puerto Rico, he earned a Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from Temple University in orchestral percussion, and is an alumnus of the esteemed Escuela Libre de Música de San Juan,
Mr. Pablo is currently percussionist for the acclaimed new musical by Alicia Keys, Hell’s Kitchen, and formerly was percussionist for the Tony-winning Broadway show New York, New York, and the hit Broadway revival of Meredith Wilson’s The Music Man starring Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster. Mr. Pablo also keeps active performing with artists such as Jazz giant Arturo O’Farrill, New York’s premier Puerto Rican folk ensemble Los Pleneros de la 21, rising star Cuban jazz trumpeter Kali Rodriguez-Peña, Puerto Rican drummer Fernando García, chamber percussion group Mobius Percussion, and with New York City’s own timba/salsa band People of Earth, for which he also co-directs and composes.
In 2022, People of Earth went on to premiere Dafnis Prieto’s Tentación Concerto for Latin Band and String Orchestra with the Louisville Orchestra under the baton of Teddy Abrams. They also performed it with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, New World Symphony, and the Britt Festival Orchestra. In addition, Víctor Pablo composes for solo percussion, percussion ensemble, mixed ensemble, salsa orchestra, jazz band, electronics, short films, and theater productions.
