Kate Aldrich, mezzo-soprano
Hailed by the San Francisco Sentinel as “the Carmen of this Generation” after her debut with the San Francisco Opera, Kate Aldrich commands a wide repertoire including such roles as Eboli in Don Carlo, Adalgisa in Norma, Charlotte in Werther, and Octavian in Der Rosenkavalier. Ms. Aldrich has performed in leading theaters throughout the world, including the Metropolitan Opera, Bayerische Staatsoper, Opernhaus Zürich, NCPA Beijing, San Francisco Opera, New National Theater and the Bunka Kaikan in Tokyo, L’Arena di Verona, Chorégies d’Orange, Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, Teatro Real Madrid, Staatsoper Hamburg, Teatro Comunale di Bologna, Teatro Regio Torino, Washington National Opera, Los Angeles Opera, Théâtre du Capitole de Toulouse, Opéra de Marseille, Opéra de Montpellier, Opéra de Montréal, and Teatro Nacional de São Carlos in Lisbon, as well as at the Salzburg Festival and Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro. Her vast symphonic repertoire includes among others La mort de Cléopâtre and the Wesendonck Lieder, as well as Mahler’s Third Symphony which she performed with the Salzburg Mozarteumorchester, Das Lied von der Erde which she debuted with Opera di Bologna and the Orchestre de Paris, as well as Shéhérazade by Ravel and the Requiem by Verdi to name a few. The upcoming season will see the release of two CDs with the Bru Zane label: Ariane by Massenet with the Münchner Rundfunkorchester, and Déjanire by Saint-Saëns with the Orchestre Philharmonique de Monte-Carlo, as well as an upcoming concert and recording of Le roi d’Ys by Lalo with the Hungarian National Philharmonic Orchestra. Ms. Aldrich can be seen on DVD performing such operas as Rienzi by Wagner, Norma by Bellini, La favorite by Donizetti, Benvenuto Cellini by Berlioz, Werther and Don Quichotte by Massenet, and Zelmira by Rossini; as well as CD recordings of Le Mage by Massenet, Olympie by Spontini, Sémélé by Dukas, and Salomé by Mariotte.
